One of my friends and mentors, Jim Legget, onced shared with me about his most important two hires for the church he started in Houston, Tx – a worship leader and children’s minister. He believes that no other decisions had a bigger impact on Grace Fellowship than they did. Those words stuck with me – especially when I said yes to the Yellow Door.

Central already has a pastor who is dreaming big and working hard to make the children’s ministry at Central thrive – thank God for Teresa. Central also has an incredible Music Director and organist who is leading the traditional services on Sunday morning – Barry Mozart Wenger. But I knew that if we were going to reach the college students and young adults, I would need to find a worship leader who could connect with this generation. Someone who was more than an excellent musician, but a modern day psalmist who pursues God’s heart and knows how to lead others into His presence. I am pleased to introduce Ryan Kondo to you and ministry of Yellow Door.

Ryan grew up in Florida where he attended the University of Central Florida and led worship for the UCF Wesley Foundation. He attended classes at Asbury Theological Seminary in Orlando, but followed a call to come to Kansas City to serve at the International House of Prayer. Ryan’s heart beats to lead the church in worship and prayer and he brings those passions to our Monday and Thursday nights gatherings.

Ryan is a modern day David, a annointed worship leader, and an up and coming musician. I am thankful that he can be with us during this first season of The Yellow Door as we establish a worshipping community of young adults within Central UMC. You can check out his webpage, listen to his original songs, and learn about his young family.
